Use of SmartSite for Project Reviews

In order to facilitate open dialog among project sponsors and reviewers, we have established a SmartSite for 200-45 project reviews:

The UC Davis Administrative Computing Policy defines a convenient and uniform format for sharing significant technology projects with the campus community. Through a flexible and collaborative review process, project sponsors can obtain a quick reality check from key technology leaders, functional unit experts, and other key stakeholders.

In addition to receiving peer and stakeholder feedback on potential projects, participants also have the opportunity to share their own perspectives regarding others’ initiatives. Both types of participation have the potential to transform the planning process, providing timely data and opinions that may influence tactical and strategic decisions.

In support of the 200-45 policy, this web site provides a repository where project plans and feedback can be reviewed, documented, and shared. We encourage you to participate in the process, as its benefit to campus will grow relative to the quantity and quality of submissions reviewed.

Highlights

  • Designed to provide comprehensive yet timely feedback, a collaborative review process assesses the anticipated impact of submitted projects on campus business processes and on faculty and staff workload.
  • The process begins when a sponsor submits a project plan for review. Full submission instructions are available in the online submission toolkit.
  • Feedback regarding submitted projects is posted on the web and shared with the project sponsor, stakeholder groups, and appropriate management officials.
  • This is not a formal approval nor a funding process, although it can inform both.
