IET: Equipment, Systems and Personnel (ESP) Application
In the process of consolidating administrative functions, IET noted that Communication Resources had developed an application to facilitate various business processes and enforce business rules, thus providing a consistent, standard approach to service delivery. This Equipment, Systems, and Personnel (ESP) application allowed for a clear definition of responsibilities, establishing roles and expectations in a variety of business areas. Because IET is currently working with Administration and Resource Management to consolidate payroll processing functions, establishing consistent processes and roles throughout IET is essential. Thus, an upgrade to ESP to facilitate use in all IET departments would promote an internal best practice and enhance the ability of any central organization to support the group.
A cursory review of other departments revealed no existing tool that would match all the existing functions and interactions supported by ESP. While there are many components that take on various functions, the idea of ESP is to provide an integrated model that simplifies the support of complex processes. This review is intended to gather ideas, identify alternative tools, and determine if this system might have value beyond IET.
